Billy Hollaway
Base Vice Commander
Store Keeper
Past Base Commander
I was born and went to school in Bowie, TX and entered the Navy in August 1961
without finishing high school.  Following recruit training in San Diego, I attended
Class A Cryptologic Technician (CTT) School in Pensacola, FL (November 1961)
and reported for duty at CINCLANTFLT HQ in Norfolk, VA in May 1963.

I met my wife Sheri in Virginia Beach, we were married in 1965 and served tours of
duty in Norfolk (1963-1966, 1969-1972), Pearl Harbor (1966-1969, 1974-1980),
Subic Bay, Philippines (1972-1974) and SubBase Groton, CT (1980-1982).  I have
been fortunate to have served on several types of ships, aircraft and submarines,
and completed 14 Cold War Patrols between 1964-1972.

I qualified in submarines in USS TRITON (SSN 586, 1965) and USS SPADEFISH
(SSN 668, 1971) in addition to Naval Aircrewman, ASW ESM in Patrol Squadron
48 P3B (1968) and Special Tactical Evaluator in Fleet Air Reconnaissance
Squadron ONE, EP3B ARIES, 1973.

I was initiated a Chief Petty Officer in 1970, advanced to Master Chief, selected for
Warrant Officer in 1972 promoted to CWO4 and selected for the Navy Limited
Duty Officer Program as a LTJG, 1977 and retired as a lieutenant in 1982.

We are now retired, living in North Little Rock, AR and have six grandchildren
living in Connecticut, Tennessee and Conway, AR.  I am a Charter Member of
USS RAZORACK Base, 2000 until present and have served as Treasurer, Vice
Commander (two terms), Base Commander, Base Storekeeper,
Memorials/Ceremonies and COB.  I believe the Navy was my greatest adventure
and enjoy gathering at conventions and reunions to visit with former shipmates
and friends.
